What a bunch of lies: a) the council RENTS A COURT ROOM AND RENTS JUDGES - yes it is in a an official court room but it isn't a real trial b) the judges do not judge individual cases, they just rubber stamp a bunch of documents without individual consideration - that is unlawful even if this was real trial c) no court bailiffs are ever sent, as no real court was involved and no real person would put their own name on a fraudulent document d) there is no legislation to pursue council tax non-payments

I am currently complaining to the ombudsman. This is due to me paying exactly what I have to. Despite me doing this, they defaulted us because - "We asked you to pay £175pcm over 10 months" and instead we worked it out that we owed £144pcm over 12 months. I let them know we would pay over 12 months and not 10 and they said that was fine. Then proceeded to take us to court and threaten bailiffs. All this in a time where we are struggling to put food on the table. I think Council Tax is a joke. We pay more and get less. Every penny of government funding is spent on "improvements" no one wanted, needed or asked for. They waste our money and then ask us to pay more. The whole system needs changing

I always book packages, for the security they give you. In 2005, the included coach transfer failed to pick us up from the hotel at the right time. It arrived an hour late. When we got to the airport, check-in was closed, but they still made sure we got on the flight (we arrived at the airport about 10 minutes before boarding). If we had 'DIY booked', we would have had to have paid for another flight.

About time! Around 14 years ago I missed 1 month on my council tax. Not because I struggled financially (I scraped through just about paycheck to paycheck), but because I didn't get the reminder letter and I was paying per bill rather than direct debit. I ended up having to go to the bank and get a loan to pay off the full amount, paying off the loan plus interest damn near killed me though. Glad to see this won't happen again.

Councils don't take you to court, they stage a court buy hiring there own judge they hire a court room and a judge looks at anywhere up to 500 cases at the same sitting then they send there own private bailifs, seeing all councils have registered since bent blare as LTD companies (check company house) the first thing you should be asking is where is the contract between the customer and the LTD company

An extreme version of this happened in the last few years. Someone had made an AirBNB reservation and there was I want to say a hurricane and the area where the AirBNB was located was put under mandatory evacuation…no one allowed in. AirBNB was refusing to refund them and people online were actually defending AirBNB. That said, most hotels have a 24-48 hour cancellation, so if you’re delayed you would end up eating that night day or two’s rent, but if you’re unable to make it at all, you should be able to get everything past the first or second night back. The question then becomes if the added cost and inconvenience (having to take whatever hotel they bundle) of a package is less than the cost of a couple nights of hotel rent.

Whatever they can legally do Here’s what actually happens They send it to a bailiff, they send a letter, after a month they call They may visit around 6months in I’ve been done more than once, I can promise that 3 weeks nonsense isn’t real, wether legally they can or not I don’t know but you’ve dealt with the council, 3 weeks to open the email, 3 weeks to read it Nothing is happening in 6 weeks lol Just regular bailiffs, they threaten dumb shit but again they are just people, unless they have the paper from the high court you can just tell them to fuck off, one the county court sheriffs get involved just pay it lol
