Totally agree with Sorcha - so on the ball. Politics has become so exposed to the media that politicians can't so readily hide behind lies or by wearing a public facade. Being honest to constituents is really the only long term option now. I have been so impressed with his social policies, his candour, and his ability to handle a very abrassive press, but his ignorance in relation to operational policing was quite evident there. Also, as it was a reflex tweet it shows that it reflects his genuine views. The strongest part of their platform is taxation of the ultra rich, while the rest will struggle to find popular support I fear. Their positions on nuclear power, open borders, and increased borrowing - very ideological, utopian for some depending on your viewpoint but also unworkable or inefficient without broad public support that will cost them votes, and won't make life better for us short term. They've gained success on the back of labour's failure to represent the left, but the minutiae of their current policy positions don't look good under scrutiny. Totally agree with Sorcha - so on the ball. Politics has become so exposed to the media that politicians can't so readily hide behind lies or by wearing a public facade. Being honest to constituents is really the only long term option now. I've always felt the appeal of Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage is they appear to be straight talking and down to earth, and so voters might be willing to overlook everything else on the chance its the real thing. The country really craves a lack of BS in its politics, we are at its heart a practical, common sense loving nation, that is constantly told otherwise. Wouldn't it be nice to have someone like Sorcha who is actually down to earth and actually cares as PM.

However, I do agree that this is the same media playbook that was used against Corbyn in order to smash the anti-austerity left. Though I consider the greens to be deeply flawed in some respects, they are the only party offering a different economic approach. If you are renting, if you do not have rich parents, if you are afraid of the future because you do not have any savings, the green party is your only option. In short, I’ll be voting for them. They’re quite mad in a lot of ways, but the economy is the issue and a bunch of middle class liberal wasters in the media will not make me vote against my own interests.

AS a silver lining this smear campaign so far doesn't seem to be working very well. He has been consistently criticising Israel for quite a long time now - watch some of his content over the last two years. I was very disappointed in Mr Polanski's tweet. I have been so impressed with his social policies, his candour, and his ability to handle a very abrassive press, but his ignorance in relation to operational policing was quite evident there. Also, as it was a reflex tweet it shows that it reflects his genuine views. I hope he does have the chance to speak with the commissioner and hopefully some operational officers who can educate him a little.
Winter Fuel Allowance and Inheritance Tax on Farmers are very specific political decisions that impact upon segments - not everyone. I think it is disingenuous of this politician to make a judgement call on this Government on those two things. What is clear. We live in an incredibly difficult, if not impossible time to be PM. We live in an increasingly global age - thus - global events will have more and more economic impact that Governments have to react to. It makes planning and long-term thinking very challenging. We feel this in business - constantly having to react. I don’t know what people expect. But - if you think the country needs to change again - well good luck with that. It sort of feels like the Greens are starting to score own goals when it comes to alienation, as well as media portrayal harming them. The strongest part of their platform is taxation of the ultra rich, while the rest will struggle to find popular support I fear. Their positions on nuclear power, open borders, and increased borrowing - very ideological, utopian for some depending on your viewpoint but also unworkable or inefficient without broad public support that will cost them votes, and won't make life better for us short term. They've gained success on the back of labour's failure to represent the left, but the minutiae of their current policy positions don't look good under scrutiny. Even here, with the police's use of force controversy, I just don't think Zack's position just resonates with most members of the public - if a man who has just stabbed two innocent people and is still holding the weapon while wrestling with police, I don't think the average Joe swing-voter really cares about the difference between 2 vs 4 head kicks to ensure the attacker is knocked out and cannot harm their colleagues.

It's my understanding being hit with a tazer could lead to muscle spasms such as grasping, so he wouldn't necessarily have been able to drop the knife. If there were two officers, he was tazed and dropped to the floor, the sensible approach would seem to be for one officer to grasp his arm and restrain him, and the other to disarm.

This is an orchestrated campaign with the establishment, Starmer's government and the media. The letter from the Met chief was a perfectly timed political taser that knocked Zack on the floor. As soon as he was down, Starmer put the boot in. This gave a lead and permission for all the other party leaders to wade in. The media then piled in, relentlessly kicking Polanski's head in at every opportunity. Every TV interview he has faced, is conducted in the tones of a trial, the prosecution lawyer interrogating the accused. They are going further than that though, and it is a disturbing development. There have been no end of articles and speeches making extreme accusations, monstering the Green Party and impugning the character and legitimacy of people who might have considered voting Green. There is a concerted effort to halt this 'emergency' posed by the 'dangerous' Green surge, you know. There are elections on Thursday and it seems imperative to the establishment, that the electorate be dissuaded by any means, from even entertaining the notion of voting for the evil Green Party They want to tax wealth, you know, we can't have that!
